I don’t really know what to say about this one. I know I have had several of those lately, but this one is truely odd but well done.

Just try it out, it can be quite fun.

Endless Interestingness

Endless Interestingness

Got a simple one today, but can be fun. What you have on this link in a platform of pictures. These are pictures pulled randomly from Flickr. Move your mouse to the left, right, up or down and you will expand the platform endlessly. It will continue to load more pictures in the squares as long as you move it around. Click on a picture to go to it.

That’s it. I don’t have anything else to say about this one.

Fractal Frame

Create fractals from frames by clicking on them. There isn’t much more to say really.

myoats

myoats

I do seem to come across a lot of art/design site. I don’t know why since I am not artistic in the least.

myoats is another of these type of sites, but it is cool enough to make it here. Although I would be embarrassed to try and put out an example of what I have made using this site, I have seen what others can do with it and am very impressed.

The site itself and the software behind it is something more I know about. This site in this stage of its existence is doing a few things that many are doing these days. It is becoming very “Web 2.0” in its design and usability. You can just click on create at the top of the page and have at it, but you can also create a user. As a user you can save your creations, look at others and rate them, add favorites to your profile, add or make friends that are also using the site, and so on. The virus that is “Web 2.0” and “Social Networking” is spreading into everything it seems and is not going away. They do seem to be focusing on this networking and trying to make this into a community of artist while providing a platform to create. Just remember that you do not need this log in to use the site.

Now the more important thing is the use of the creator here. This is a very easy to use platform that incorporates several types of drawing software in one. This allows those of you out there that are talented and can do something with this type of thing, to easily make wonderful designs and drawings. Some of what I have seen blows my mind. The controls and settings at first look are very easy to use and control. The more you get into it though you will notice that you can tweak a lot more than you might of first thought. The people that created this software did a great job of beautifully bringing the necessary complexity to a simplistic interface. I like this one a lot and suggest anyone interested to check it out.

As always, I will remind everyone out there and myself, whenever you find or do anything, there is always someone out there that can do it better. This is the best online tool for this that I have used thus far, that does not mean I will not find something else later.

When it comes to the social networking part of this I do have a few things I can say. I do not know anyone else using this service, and since I do not have much use for it myself I don’t plan to do much here. I did sign up for an account to check it out and it seems very well done. The interface seems like I would have thought of if you were to add social networking to Picasa or iPhoto. It is very much focused around the art being created and for that it gets a lot of credit from me. Although it is a very well done site and seems to be getting better, it is still social networking and I am unsure how much more of that I need.

Crayola Digi-Color

Crayola Digi-Color

I can’t think of much that is more universal among all children other than the fun that is colouring. I loved it, my kids love it and I know that everyone reading this has at least one great memory about colouring.

Now there are plenty of great ways to just waste some time colouring these days. First off I am an adult with money of my own and can buy my own crayons and paper. There are colouring applications and so on. This site brings it all to you in a great fun way that only Crayola can do though. I gives you a piece of digital paper sitting on a table for you to colour with. You can choose from different Crayola products to do your colouring and even change the tip type and size, based off of Crayola products. Most important when it comes to Crayola, you can choose from your favorite Crayola colours. It is a simple site that can be a lot of fun. The only thing I wish they had added was a save button. You can print your page though.

This has got to be the most important thing about this site.

Your paper area is what prints, but you do not have to stay on the paper. Like with any fun day of colouring, you can colour on the edges, the table, and so on. Now what makes it on the paper will print, just so that you remember that.

Cubescape

Cubescape

Today’s site comes to us from a small site called The Man in Blue. This site is small by most standards, but it has been around for a long while. Anyway, this is the personal site of a web designer. Although I am not an avid follower of his blog I do like to check out his experiments here and there. This is one of those that you will find there.

This is a fun thing to spend time on. it is like playing with Lego’s, minus the Lego’s. you are given a grid and a colour pallet. Looking at the 3D grid at an angle you put choose your colours and place block of that colour down. You are only able to drop one 1×1 block at a time, but this site is well done and looks nice. On top of doing your design, you can watch an animation of you doing it. You can also look at other peoples submitted designs and watch the animations of their creations.

Chat Noir

Chat Noir

You may know this one already and you may know it by more than one name. The creators of the most popular version on line call it Chat Noir, or Black Cat in French. It is also known around the web as “Circle the Cat” or “Trap the Cat.”

This one is a game. Your objective is to trap the cat by circling it with dark spots on the grid. The cat starts in the middle and moves on place with each of your moves. The cats objective is to get off the grid. It isn’t a real hard premise, but can be a hard objective.
